OMG, he drew Muhammad!

Do any of you remember Southpark's episode 200 and 201?  If you didn't see them on their original air date, it's unlikely that you've seen them at all.  Comedy Central (among other organizations) has caved to the threats of retribution.  It wasn't enough to just block out all representations of Mohammad (something Matt and Trey had already done), but Comedy Central also bleeped out the use of his name AND a majority of the speech on censorship at the end of the episode (does Comedy Central even see the absurdity of that?).

There is a fine line between respect for the beliefs of others and allowing yourself to be repressed.  And it's not one that you should wantonly dance around.  But in this situation, with the many crimes of hate and violence committed against those who fight for free expression, I think it's worth taking a stand.  In the words of Hemant Mehta,
The extremists can’t attack everyone, right?
So, I've (poorly) drawn Mohammad.  I don't do this to disrespect Islam (though I'm sure there are those who refuse to perceive this in any other way).  I do it because dammit-- I can, and I should be allowed to do so.  Here's to you, Matt and Trey.
